2021 Tour Divide and Great Divide Classic!

**** Jay Petervary’s blue dot is bouncing with a time of 14d19h15m! Congrats to Jay for a great race!

Tour Divide ’21 Border-to-Border and the Great Divide Classic:
So we have the day upon us as the Tour Divide Border-To-Border and GDR Classic will kick off tomorrow. There is a group of folks ITT’ing the race early tomorrow morning, Friday June 11th and other leaving from the Grand Depart!

Original Announcement about the GDR Classic –

Great Divide Classic:
With the Canadian Border closure rolling month-to-month, it’s unlikely a Tour Divide proper will happen for 2021. You can, however, race the Great Divide Classic! In true “we not sitting back on our laurels” fashion, Jay Petervary and other TD racers are taking on the route in much the same way the Great Divide Race did: Border to Border!

This is not the Tour Divide, nor is it an attempt to replace or supplant that race. As Jay P. put it, it’s a way to pay homage to the origins of racing the Divide going back to John Stamstad’s inaugural time trial.

GDR and Tour Divide veterans Jay Petervary and Peter Basinger have a plan for racers including a website to pull information about the race here. MTBCast is on board, of course, to provide call-in services and to post updates as racers make their way along the route! It’s part “getting the band back together” and part “hey, I remember that race!”

Start Date and location
Although racers can start at any time, the grand depart for the GDC is June 11, 2021, 12:00 noon
We will start from the duty free parking lot just southwest of the First and Last Chance Bar. Parking / drop off area.

There are some changes to the route and updates about closures and detours will be decimated over on the Tour Divide Updates page as well as on Facebook and the MTBCast Facebook page and website. I will also try to keep the call-in greeting current with closures to help those calling in know what lies ahead as far as changes are concerned.
