No Idle Tour!

Jay Petervary’s No Idle Tour kicked off with his record-breaking win of the 1100 Iditarod Invitation Race to Nome, AK! Next on the agenda is the RAAM (Race Across AMerica) in June then he’ll be doing an  ITT of the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in August! Iditarod Trail Invitational 2011

The Iditarod Trail Invitational 2011 kicked off Sunday, February 27th, 2011 @ 2:00 PM!  For 2011 the 1100 mile race the Southern Route was followed moving through the ghost town of Iditarod, Shageluk, Grayling, Anvik, Kaltag. The South Route splits off the Northern Route in the ghost town of Ophir.

Peter Basinger wins the race for the 5th time!!
Louise Kobin sets a new woman’s course record of 3 days 22 hours and 20 minutes!
Loreen Hewitt sets a new women’s foot record in the 350 mile 6 days 23 hours 30 minutes.

Jay Petervary wins Nome race sets new Southern Route record: 17 days 6 hours!
Aidan Harding finishes in 17 days 9 hours 15 minutes in second place. First person by single speed.
Tracey Petervary first woman to finish the Southern Route in 18 days 6 hours 30 minutes!

Tim Hewitt sets new overall course record on foot to Nome: 20 days 7 hours 17 minutes!

MTBCast Changes

Starting January 1st, 2011 MTBCast will cease as a business. It will become what it has essentially always been, a hobby. How long even that will continue remains to be determined. However, there will be no more PayPal link and no more expectation of funding.

There are a few reasons for this. My inability to garner any lasting sponsorship is part of it, in large part due to my ineptitude at it. As anyone who has met me knows, I’m a talker but not in the sense of a salesperson. This, as you might guess, means that getting the idea that podcasting would be a good avenue for advertising mountain biking wares out to vendors has been poorly done. My shortcomings, noted.
