When Gracie learned to ride a unicycle at the age of 13, she had no idea it would ever take her anywhere. Nine years later, in 2006, she became the first woman to unicycle across the United States, covering nearly 4,000 miles. This summer of 2009 brings a new challenge: she and her buddy Matt Burney aim to become the first people ride unicycles the entire Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. The dirt roads and extreme conditions will no doubt bring a new level of intensity to unicycling, as well as a new level of crotch soreness, as they are carrying all their gear in backpacks.
