Iditarod Trail Invitational 2010!

They’re off! 44 racers from 8 different countries left the starting line at Knik Lake this afternoon at 2:00pm. Of that total there were 28 bikers, 15 runners and 1 lone skier. There were 38 men and 6 are women.
You can get all of the up-to-the-minute news on the Alaskan Ultrasport ITI News page! There’s also a Facebook page as well. Check out the roster here and you can follow links to individual racer blogs! And be sure and check the leaderboard throughout the day!

ITI News: Tracey P sets new female overall course record

Jay and Tracey Petervary arrive in Nome at 8:00 PM this evening in second place after 18 days and 6 hours on the trail making Tracey’s time  a new female overall course record. She is only the second woman to finish the entire course on a bike and the third woman to complete the 1100 mile long trail!

Tom Jarding is on a record setting pace to Nome. He called Kathi from Elim at 8:00 PM and
Tim Hewitt arrived in Shaktoolik at 6:00 PM.
